Privacy Policy

• Your name, so whoever calls back knows who they are speaking to.
• A phone number, because a water problem gets sorted out on the phone rather than by email.
• An email address, if you give one, only so we can write instead of calling. The field is optional and blank is fine.
• Which kind of job it is closest to, one of five choices, so what arrives is already sorted by the kind of job it is.
• What you write in the message box, whatever you decide to put there, which is the part that actually describes the job.
• Any photographs you attach, they say more about a wet room than a paragraph does. Attaching none is fine.

There is one more input in that form and it is deliberately hidden from you: an empty box that a person never sees and an automated script fills in anyway. If it comes back with anything in it the submission is treated as spam. It collects nothing about you, because a human browser never puts anything in it.

That list is the whole of it. No account to make, no newsletter to be signed up to, no survey afterwards, and no field doing something quietly different from what its label says.

This site is not taking requests yet. The form has its fields and they work, and it does not send anywhere: nothing is stored, nothing is emailed, and nobody is waiting at the other end of it.

When a request does go out, it goes to one restoration contractor working in the Town of Oyster Bay. One. It is not put out to several firms to race each other for, and it is not resold to a lead broker, which is where most enquiries typed into a water damage search actually end up. Nobody else receives it and nobody in a call centre reads it first.

A copy is kept so the request exists somewhere other than in one person's memory, on the hosting and database service this site runs on. It is not published, it appears in no public listing, and sending it adds you to nothing. No list of addresses is built here at all.

Pictures of a wet room tell a contractor more than a page of typing does, and they are also pictures of where you live. Whatever you attach lands in a locked bucket: no index, no directory anybody can walk, no address anybody can guess. Nothing you send is put on this site, nothing you send turns up in the imagery here, and the only person who ever opens it is the contractor taking the job.

A phone usually writes the time into the file, and often enough where it was standing. Clearing that before you send is a setting on most handsets. So is skipping the picture and typing out what the room looks like, which costs less than you think.

No phone number is published on this site at the moment, so there is no call to log and no recording of any kind. Everything on this page is about the form.

A tracked line is being set up, and when it appears it will be recorded and will say so out loud at the start of every call. New York allows a call to be recorded when one party to it consents, which means that announcement is not something the law requires here. It gets made regardless, and this section will describe exactly what is kept once there is something to describe.

No Google product runs on this site. There is no Analytics tag, no Tag Manager, no advertising pixel, no heat-map recorder and no social network button. Nothing here loads code from anybody else in order to watch you read, and that is a decision about how the site is built rather than a gap waiting to be filled.

Visits are counted by this site itself, by a short script served from this domain. It reports four things when a page opens, and these are all four of them.

• What sort of thing happened. There is one sort, and it means a page was opened.
• Which page it was: the part of the address after the domain, so /services/mold-remediation/ and nothing further.
• Where you came from, as a bare domain name only. Not the page on it, and not whatever you typed into a search box to get there.
• How wide the browser window is, in pixels, so these pages can be built for the sizes people actually read them at.

Everything else on that record is worked out here, from a request your browser was going to make anyway: which browser it is, roughly where your network sits, whether the page loaded, and the time by this site's clock. None of it is stitched into a profile and none of it is sold.

Your IP address is not stored. It is combined with today's date and a secret kept on the server, and turned into a short string that cannot be turned back into an address. That string stops matching tomorrow, which is what makes a repeat visit countable today and untraceable next week.

This site sets no cookie of its own. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to, which is the honest reason and not a loophole.

When the form starts sending it will carry a Cloudflare Turnstile check, the box that tells a real visitor apart from an automated script. It sets one cookie of its own to do that and does nothing else. It is not on the site yet.

A request is kept for as long as it is useful to the person handling it and then it is not. In practice that means the record of a job stays while the job is live and is cleared out afterwards; photographs go with it. Nothing is kept in order to build a profile of you, because nothing here would have anything to do with one.

Ask for a request to be deleted and it will be, along with anything attached to it. Asking costs nothing and no reason is needed.

There is no mailbox published on this site, so the route is the same form everything else goes through: the contact page, with what you want in the message box. If a phone number is published here later, that will work too.

This policy will change when the site does, and the date at the top is the date it was last written rather than the date somebody looked at it. If something on it has stopped being true, that is a fault worth reporting and it will be fixed rather than argued about.

This site is for people arranging work on a building they are responsible for. It is not aimed at children, nothing on it is written for them, and no request is knowingly accepted from one.
